Default South Branch

Can anyone ping me with some spots to try on the S/B today? I'll be checking once I get to the spot I have scoped, but I'm sure I'm heading into prime stocking and over fishing territory. From north Jersey so I don't really know where I'm going, just looking to head out. Also, non-TCA please if you happen to find it in you to ping me a decent spot.

Thanks all! Wish me luck in the high and cold water

Stanton Station off Rt. 31, Google Earth, anywhere up and down river from there. Most of the river has yellow signs, public property, WMA.

Thanks, Andy. I went to Hamden Rd and the water was HIGH. No luck for me, didn't anticipate it though. Tried some flies, spinners, spoons, the works. Appreciate the feedback and tips. Much appreciated!

Any fly guys around want to teach me the ropes this winter or early spring? Been trying for a while but don't really know what I'm doing yet. Have the cast and everything down, just not the catching.

Cheers,
Dave

When I started fly fishing I took the easy route, poppers and streamers.
Smallmouth and everything else eats poppers and streamers, maybe give it a try. We will get together in the spring, I need to dust off my fly rod tho

I am pretty new to fly fishing. I recommend taking a guided trip. I took one last year up in VT and it was well worth the money. The guide worked with me on some simple techniques, explained some basic patterns to work. He put me and a buddy on some really nice 15-20" bows. I fought way more fish than I actually caught, but it was a great learning experience, and gives you confidence that you can connect with fish if you work an area correctly.

Check out the up-comming fly fishing show at the end of january....Even if you don't walk onto the showroom floor, the amount of seminars and slide show presentations is staggering.....You can learn a shhh load and spend all jumpng around to diff seminars at the neighboring hotel....

I go every year and only do a quick once over inside the actual show, looking for ANY new products....Then its off to the gr8 seminars of which many are presented by some truly famous fly fishrman....I don't take notes myself but ALOT of guys have notepad and pen in hand....Give it some thought, its a gr8 way to catch up with ur fly fishing IQ

could prob just search- fly fishing show, garden state exhibit center
