I ran an open mid range trip Sunday, we left the dock at 6 AM with a very nice group, Jan and son Dawson, Mike H, Mike K, and Mike R with mate Mike....names were pretty easy! I ran to southwest of the Chicken and then trolled northeast. We ran through schools of small bonita, but no big boys there. At the tip of the Chicken we started chunking and jigging but only raised a Hammerhead. While drifting in the Chicken we saw an enormous Mako or Great White go airborne twice. He was between us and the sun so I couldn't be sure of the ID, but the white water was like you dropped a school bus in ! Back on the troll we boated a couple of small mahi and got back to the dock after 5. Great group, wish we had done better.
