Default Finally a Fluke Limit

Joey Dah Fish and I got an invite from Avet George to fish his boat Wednesday. Perfect day with drifting conditions right around .7 to 1.2 knots pretty much the whole time despite the full moon. The fish were hungry, especially for the last few hours of our trip.

We ended up with probably 20ish fish only keeping 15 and this was the first time this year I can recall getting a boat limit. I say we, but George was the one with the hot hand and probably caught 80% of the fish. The one spot we hit towards the end of the day was paved with Fluke and George put on a clinic. It seems every time we'd go to set back up on the drift, George would drop down and immediately hook up... If he missed the fish they would come back and hit him again.... All Joe and I could do was shake our heads and get the net.

All keepers caught on Bucktails tipped with gulp and a gulp teaser. We had a few fish in the 5 - 6 pound range but most were 3 pounds or so.

Bucktails and gulps have been the ticket! We had a lot of missed fish actually hit the bucktail lifted a foot off the bottom and slightly jigged after a missed hit! technique seemed to trigger an aggressive response.

Yep Light.... These fish would often miss the hook and come back for it.
That's the beauty of using fluke bellies or gulp... They are tough baits and unlike squid and small fish baits, they tend to stay on the hook better and allow you to get a few shots at the same fish.

One thing I've also noticed is that I seem to be foul hooking a lot of fish on the bucktail... I assume they go for the teaser, I feel the bite, lift the rod and snag them with the Bucktail. I've caugh more then a few like this.

Dan, You got that right. I will never surrender the Revo and combined with the Lamiglass Inshore it is an unbelievable combo for bucktailing. Cudos to you and Scott on that recommendation. Obiwan has taught me well

Dan - that combo is the bomb!! George gave me the rod to try out and the feel of the outfit was incredable. Not sure if it's the rod, reel or both ( I'm sure it's not George ) but it was so much more sensative then the Loomis GL2 I use. It was like switching from braid to mono for the first time.
