![]() EXTREME Inshore overnighter.
As in "Jerry closed a few bars NOT located on the boardwalk, celebrating his birthday the night before, and we barely made it out the inlet" extreme inshore!!!!!!!! But I digress.... We DID manage a charter yesterday.....for the infamous Summer flounder who inhabit the spro-defying hard bottoms of our beachfront communities. Made it to the boat at 5:43.....figured GDubya would be the last person there so we imposed a "last man to the boat has to buy food" rule, since hes normally the last one at the boat. Needles to say, G wasnt the last. That honor went to Evan, who was immediately bombarded with "last person has to buy lobster rolls from the point"..... Usually a box of donuts will suffice. Then again, this was a tough crowd..... Crew was composed of Rubberband Pete, Capt. Bill, Evan, Bradley Cooper, GDubya, and yours truly. The team brought enough gulp (suitcases filled!) to outfit a start-up tackle shop..... Anyways....at the boat...Jerry was still recovering from Birthday celebratory-status from the night before. Hard to believe he finally hit the legal drinking age and we would no longer have to sneak him a beer!!!! We cast off after a late-arriving Evan flew across the marina (the alarm clock button DOES have to be set to "on" in order for it to function), and headed down the beach to the not-so-secret spot (Yes......the chicken canyon...I KNOW thats where all the bluefin are...I know....no spot-burning here, kiddies!) Slow pick at best but nice sized fish made it across the rail. I would say the keeper ratio was 3-1: 3 spros for every keeper fluke netted. Rubberband got the first, AND LAST, dollar bill fish.... Capt. Bill nailed the big one....and Bradley nailed a legal double-header on a spro and teaser......all-in-all, a charter limit with quality fish. Dubya, Evan, and I sorta just....enjoyed the sunshine, and the numerous hang-ups that our extra-sharp hooks caused on the , snarly, snaggy bottom for most of the afternoon. EXtra notes: 1. Evan really DID treat us all to lobster rolls, and I gotta' say, without giving an unpaid advertisement to anyone, those damned things were AMAZING!!!! (And they were so conveniently located to the boat!!!!!) Evan...you ARE DA MAN!!!! 2. No ethnic humor was employed at any point during our charter, and if you dont believe me. just ask Capt. Jelly! 3. John's spro-saving ratio was clouded a bit by his fishing rod-busting ratio. I think he was +10 on the jigs, and -1 on the rods. My one-piece Tsunami is now a very nice, easy-to-tote, 2 piece travel rod. 4. Bradley is the single-most effective fish signaling device ever created by man. As soon as he hooked up we all got ready to fight a fish because we knew that 10 seconds later it would be off, and eventually find one of our baits. 5. Jerry has a new mate. 6. A new Monger is on the way, but not with the new mate. I realize those last 2 are cryptic, but, hey....some of these are for ME! 7. No cigarrettes, baby seals, hickory shad, sturgeon, or short fluke were harmed during the making of this charter! But Lord knows there were plenty of bruised egos floating around when Bradley nailed a legal double after missing 3,246 bites earlier in the day. 8. One of the most fun groups of guys Ive ever had the pleasure of fishing with!!!!!!! Capt. JJ |

![]() Oh and I almost forgot:
9. Jerry yelling down from the bridge, "OK guys...get ready for a bite!"...like, 30 seconds after one of us was hooked up. Yeah.....the guy just has an uncanny feel for knowing when we were about to get hit............................................... ...................... |

![]() nice report, tough day.
Was it an airwave that broke? My buddy fished on the Golden and broke his airwave in 2 pieces, he said with almost no force at all it just exploded in the middle. |

![]() Thanks again for the invite Capt JJ - laffed my azz off all day and Happy B-day again Captain Jerry . Got you some reel coffee yesterday .Mate John dont touch my shyyttee - Lookout - I googan my own gear HHHMMM......
Trip went exactly like JJ said , instead I really sucked and googaned on this Sunday - wound up with 4 keepers and lost a ton of jigs and just really couldnt get anything going. I was fishing way to light changed up to heavier setup and worked well for the rest of the day - figures last hour . Best In-Shore long Range Non- Tuna/Over-Nighter trip I was ever on. There might be a new mate ??? Only time will tell - And for the record it is Jerr-lly - not Jerry - got any white leggers ??? Evan - Thank you for the Lobster rolls - You did not have to do that but thank you again and yes they were delicious and my dumbazz told the wife - guess were we are going really soon ??? JJ and crew - thanks again for the invite and hopefully see you and fish with you on the New Monger ??? The only thing hurt on this trip was my pride -from uber sucking - but hey that is fishing and my stomach from laffing so hard - BTW Bradley's rubber hook demonstration was awesome . He did better with rubber hooks than I did with reel ones GDubs-

![]() You're welcome guys. It was a blast yesterday. For the record, I did have my limit at the cost of a bunch of jigs. Thank you John for saving about five for me and for not snapping my rod in half.

![]() Evan, thanks again for the roll, much appreciate and unnecessary.
All, thanks for trying to pull up every pot with drifted by with your bucktails. We didn't have to bring the lobster for the rolls, they have plenty. Always fun fishing with you guys, thanks for the invite. Hope to do it again some time. For a while I thought I could have caught more blackfish drunk in 10 foot seas with the amount I missed. Jerry and John, you guys are top notch. Can't wait to get on the new Monger. Sorry for delay in responding, took a little time to get my ID setup. |
