Default Sat night on Da Valley......

Fished there 3 times so far in the last couple weeks, first two trips out one rainbow and a few large bluegills both times , was kinda disappointed but glad my parter Kelly, my daughter caught one of them her first night trip to the VALLEY.
Was kinda tired but we made the run last night and was def worth the ride.
Nice breeze and clear skies made for a beautiful evening. Hit the water about 9-9:30 ish and there were about twenty boats out so wasn't to sure how it was gonna be but headed north and fished a spot never did before.
ANCHORED, HAHAHAHAHA up in 35-40 ft of water and it was pretty much a steady bite till 3 am when we finally pulled out of the parking lot. We caught several large bluegills, at least a dozen rock bass and nine rainbows and one brown, Yes I said Brown!! Nice healthy fish, most of them were about 13-15 inches except for my daughters PB, a Nice Pink 19 incher which made the night even better. Missed a bunch, lost a few and broke off one on the anchor line as well.
Couldn't get a water temp as FF is having some issues ...... All the trout remained in the water and released unharmed and swam away strong, they were all very feisty!
Except for the one I kept for the grill!!!!

And after I posted the thread about the valley I looked out the window and saw it was getting light out SO I grabbed my bass rods and after a quick stop
for a coffee I was on the local water by 6:00. Caught one short of a limit of largemouth ( That's 4 ) on finesse worms and back home by 8:30 to top off my night of fishing!!!! Now some sleep and then sweet tea vodka and lemonade by the pool for the rest of this Blazing Hot Day!!!!

Hey buddy, sounds like a good night. It's fun getting those kids out there especially when you can get them into some fish.

That's hard core. I would think after RV for 6 hours and 3:30 or 4:30 in the morning you would of had enough. Then you go out again at 6:00 Wow. You get my vote for "Hard Core Fishen Fool", but Eddie is a close second and he never likes second.

I fish RV a lot at night and I have been for about ten years. I'm still trying to figure out a pattern on why some nights I get 5 and some nights I get 50.

But I know that calm windless nights are always better, especially after a storm. And 2am is usually the best time to be out there. No point in even dropping a line until it’s completely dark.

I'm seeing a lot of baitfish at night this year and that's also a good sign. If I don’t attract the baitfish and there’s nothing on the sonar after ½ hour, I know it’s a bad spot and I move.

Manny says you need to double anchor, but if it's so windy that you need two anchors, I don't like being out there.

Depth is also important. I typically identify where the thermocline ends and double it.

If I'm catching bluegill and rock bass, I know I'm not in the ideal spot so I move deeper. Even if there are trout in with them, they're a nuisance.

I always use #6 or #8 barbless hooks. The trout can't handle being out of the water.

This is a fish from Friday night. My livewell is 20” and this rainbow hit both ends.

Yea I agree with you some times slim pickins and some times jackpot! I generally fish the same area when I'm out there. I fished a little shallower than I usually do and the trout were biting so all was good. I wish I could figure out how to find the thermocline on my fish finder. It's an 1995 eagle and the manual says put in manual mode and turn up the sensitivity but I still can't make heads or tails of it. Time for a new one hopefully soon. I've had good luck on windy days as well as calm ones but full moon there is the death curse for me. Maybe we can hook up some time. Always looking for new people to fish with.......
