Default Another "good" pike night

Not in numbers and not in size, but anytime you can hit the river for a couple of hours and land a few pike, it's a good trip !!

I wanted to try a different area tonight and with not enough time to kayak to the spot and get back, I had my wife drop me off and pick me up to save a 45 minute paddle each way. But dragging the kayak through the woods for 10 minutes to get to the area I wanted to fish.....maybe saved me 15 minutes each way. (was not worth it).

Back to the fishing report......I landed 6 pike and lost a couple, but nothing big and not what I was expecting. I have to say that the heavy down pours in the early afternoon really stained the water. I was in NYC all day and never got a drop of rain.

This wasn't the biggest of the afternoon, but it's one of the best pictures. All fish were in the low 30's" and maybe one that was just at the 35" mark.

.

Nice pike.

Dragging a heavy kayak loaded with gear through the woods is no fun! I tried it once and just gave up after a few yards.

I just bought one of these Wheel-Eeze kayak carts at the Kayak Fishing Store and it made a world of difference. It's still really heavy, but manageable with wheels to carry some of the weight.

When I fish with the kayak in the river, all my gear is carried in my belt pouch, plus 1 rod and a paddle. Just about as little as possible. I have that cart, but with the big soft tires for the beach, which is great, but for the woods, there is nothing easier then grabbing the handle and pulling it. You can always tell my kayak in the river....it's the one with all the duct tape on the bottom from dragging it many miles through the years !!! LOL
