Yamaha Dry Exhaust Corrosion Update

Below is an email I saw posted on another Boating Site from BoatU.S. regarding Yamaha's Dry Exhaust Corrosion Problems. If any of you have or had this problem, it would be wise to contact BoatU.S.'s Consumer Protection Bureau.

I don't understand this issue. Does this dry exhaust corrosion occur on HPDI single stroke, or 4stroke engines? Thanks for any input. Papa

Pretty sure the F designation in the models mentioned above means Four Stroke and I know a few people who have had this issue. Good to see Boat US finally getting Yahama to do something about it.

This issue is has to do with Four Stroke Engines (F220/F225/F250) made prior to 2006. From what I have read Yamaha has changed the composition of the metal it uses in this dry exhaust system. Hope that answers your question.
