Default OC MD Saturday/Sunday

Went out with Monty on Saturday and Sunday. Saturday we steamed 3 hours and had sporty conditions. There were 14 anglers on board and my guess is that there were about 2 dozen keepers caught. Almost all of them big tog, hardly anything under 8. Wish I had been one of the ones with the nice keepers. We left the dock at 6 AM and returned at 6:30 PM.

Sunday saw much better conditions and a light load of 9. We steamed for about 2 hours. The first drop produced a donut. A short ride later we were on a more productive rock pile. My first score was a double-header of keeper fish. A number of guys did pretty well on this spot. Monty shifted on the piece a few times; but, the first spot was the most productive.

Our last spot of the day produced the most consistent bite. I put a few more fish in the boat. My biggest went 23 or 24 inches. I had 3 fish around 9 -9.5 pounds. Two around 7 or 8 and a 3 pounder. The 9 pound female was tagged and released.

By 1:30 the boat was limited out and Monty had used all his tags so home we went. The pool fish was 12 pounds - Stelios.

I had no luck with the blue claws I had with me. Stelios helped me out with some white ledgers - curiously the small ones seemed to work best. When the small white ledgers were gone I switched to small greenies and continued to do well. The tog were chewing, no scratching, chomp, chomp and swing.

I was off of ocean city sunday doing a survey (stormy petrel out of hatteras), we passed a party boat about 2 hrs or so out (to the NE of the inlet) I was wondering how they were doing and was jealous that I couldn't wet a line. We hit a few patches of baitfish out there as they showed up on the echosounder, was wondering if there were herring, the water was cold, between 42.52 and 43.62.
