![]() I got a kayak last summer and tried the D about 3 times without much luck --i actually did better in the past fishing from shore and wet wading--i'm usually around the gap and worthington because of access and taking out where i put in--would like to do better on the smallies which is what i am targeting --not looking for specifics but time of year and area would be helpful --thanks

![]() I've noticed that to. Last year was my first with a boat but I think I got more outta my "go to" shore spots. Takes a little bit of gettin used to but bein out on the water opens up a whole new world of possibilities, and your not staring at the same old scenery all day, lol.
If nothing else, practice fishin one of your shore spots from the yak. Get a feel for it and see what happens. Then move on to other areas...... Good luck!!

![]() SMB on the D isn't what it once was. Work the spots that you think are fishy. Enjoy the rock bass, 10" stripers, and other fish that are around. The SMB population has taken a beating the last 4 years and isn't what you should target.

![]() Apparently the issues affecting the smallmouth fishery have to do with restricted water flows from the reservoirs in New York causing the smallmouth to become susceptible to the Columnaris disease. Here is an article about it: http://www.fishingthebigd.com/index_files/YOY.htm

![]() Monroe County PA ran buses on weekends around the Gap last year from Memorial Day to Labor Day, I didn't hear about it until late in the season so did not do it myself. My understanding is you just paid to park and they would take you upriver with your kayak/canoe for free, so you could paddle back to your car. Supposed to do it again this year, link below has some info.
