![]() My biggest problem with this store is that it does nothing to help the North Jersey guys. Using Lake Hopatcong as a reference point, Atlantic city is about a 150 mile drive where the current Bass Pro shop in Harrisburg, PA is only about a 140 mile drive. I have heard that they are considering building another store in Sayerville also which would be cool. Then again, years ago Cabelas was supposed to be building a store in Secaucus and that never happened so who knows.
Ok... stepping down off my soapbox... |

![]() Maybe Im missing something.. I dont see it thriving down there...
Also, support local business... I know you may pay a little more, but this economy is struggling to keep small business employed |

![]() +1 on supporting local business... After all, if we lose our local tackle shops, where do we get bait, last minute supplies and the local word on where the ice is, who's catching what where, etc. Especially locally popular lures - you won't find Binskys or Keitechs at Wallyworld or Cabelas. I even buy all my guns from my local shop - they give me competitive prices to the internet and appreciate the business.

![]() Who would want to go to AC's Outlet alley to buy what we can get close to home ? You go to AC to Gamble not buy stuff . If I can't get it on the way to the dock or on the way home from work it's not worth the travel expense .

![]() Atlantic City? I hope Bass pro Shops has good security or most of that store's inventory is going out in door in the coat-pockets of the ghetto people who live there.
Atlantic City is a ghetto city in decay. It's not a vacation destination like Las Vegas, unless you're a degenerate gambler. Most people who gamble at the casinos ride down on buses and leave at the end of the day. Both Sands casino and Cabelas are half the distance from my house and are in a much safer neighborhoods. I see no reason to travel 2+ hours to Atlantic City.

![]() I agree that putting it in AC is not the best choice. They will have a lot of theft out of that store. I'm totally for supporting local business first. However, Bass Pro and Cabelas offer more selection and items that a small local store doesn't carry.
I'm surprised they didn't open it in the middle of the state. It does screw the north end where all the larger bodies of water are (Round Valley, Spruce Run, Hopatcong etc.) |

![]() We need a sporting goods store in the clinton area. Anyone remember Dans, that was a great place and Dan was a great guy as most of your local shop owners are. Support those local shops please. Maybe it's just an illusion, but to me it seams back in the day and I'm in my 60s. You use to go to the store and get what you wanted. Now they are 10 times as big and you have to settle for what they got. Every time I go to Cabelas I can never find what I want and it seamed Dans always had it.

![]() Agreed with others in CNJ and NNJ. AC is way out of touch. IMP Cabelas is better. Have lived in both Atlanta and Nashville that host the Bass Pro Shops, Cabelas is superior. That said, given the drive and cost of gas, time, etc...buying local = less$. Sometimes an annual migration is warranted and can be cost effective if other stops are on the way.
The whole Cabelas thing in eastern PA has exploded to a whole new level. Centralization, not likely here given the commitment, would have resulted in the same. Rolling the dice in AC results in a lose for CNJ and NNJ anglers. |
