Default Voyager Offshore Report -1/5/13

Left dock as scheduled at 10:30pm. About a 4-5 hour ride out got to the fishing grounds early. NOAA was wrong as usual. high seas and winds all day Capt. suggested to wait to sunrise. We waited, he was on point. As soon as you dropped lock and load with Jumbo Seabass, I never caught or saw in my life! All 32 fishermen on board limited out by 12:00pm. I must of caught like 38 Seabass, but kept only 15. (10 on a gold diamond jig). Great trip, first and only stop we left them biting for another day. As for Porgies, saw one only come up. Capt. Said the Nor'easter scared them away. Trust me, 15 of the Seabass we caught is more than enough! Thanks to Capt. Jeff, Capt. Tracy, Tao, Pat and George for an awesome day on the water. I had more pics, unfortunately, dropped my phone in the fish bin. Here are some pics from the trip.

Steve with the pool winner!

Nice reporting Jay. That's what we wanted to hear, although too bad there were no porgies around. Maybe next trip. Jigging sounds like the way to go to find the bigger ones, what size diamond were you using?

I was using an 8oz. They were hitting that jig like a cod fish! It was awesome!

Jay those seas were something yesterday. I was facing east while fishing as the sun came up (different boat)and I sort of wanted it to stay down so I didn't have to see the rollers. Anchoring was fun....NOT! But I gotta admit nothing like drop and reel fishing to take ur mind off the seas.

I would recommend to all that have not gone on or reserved a spot for a trip to do so soon. Between helping out the businesses in the area the meat is fist class and stores well in the winter.
