when I pitch an unweighted worm I watch my line (powerpro green) for a taker on the fall. despite polarized glasses it is often hard to see depending on the angle of the sun etc.. what are peoples opinions of the hi vis yellow powerpro, does the visibily spook bass in stained water? has anyone tried the the waterproof marker technique to hide the end of the line?

also would adding a fluoro leader maintain the line rigidity for hook setting?

I have used the same in the past. Not sure about different line colors but attaching a fluero leader or even a strip of good mono should hurt rigidity because you only need a few feet. You will lose some line strength off of the weakest line because of the knot. Meaning if you use a 20lb leader your break strength might be like 15lb test or something like that.

The only concern with that I think would be if you need to turn a fish from structure or pull it out of heavy weeds.

If you do decide to use the high-vis line, especially in clear water, I would recommend a leader of a more subdued color, whether that be clear mono or fluoro, or grey or green braid. You only need four or five feet of leader.

ordered hi vis yellow, going to "color" the last 3ft with a waterproof sharpie matching the water color. will keep you posted.

I use powerpro on most of my setups. If im using a egg sinker for live bait on a fish finder rig I just use flouro for my leader from the swivel Im using anyway to be safe. If Im fishing a worm rig its usually off my M or MH setup pitching/casting to heavy cover and I usually use 20/30lb powerpro superslick and I use an albright special to go to my flouro leader. I used swivels alot but after trying the albrights and landing many stipers and never having a slip I trust it fully now. Using a swivel is as strong as direct tie to a lure IMO and a good line to line knot is 95% or better IMO. Havent had an issue yet I use 3 -4 ft in general no matter the clarity of the water its just standard w me now. also been doing palomar knots when I direct tie braid to my snaps or hooks seems better for braid, I use a improved clinch for standard line ties

Strung up a new multi-purpose setup today and headed to the practice pond to check it out. Colored the first 6' of the hi-vis yellow powerpro using a black sharpie and what a difference! The line stood out loud and clear watching for bites on an unweighted worm and the start of the blackened leader let me know when the worm was close when it was coming in under slime. Didn't hookup but had two runoffs which were readily apparent with the hi-vis line despite glare etc.. so far so good.

ps- hooked a snag and ended up pulling a full size highway marker clear across the pond, that powerpro never ceases to amaze me, I swear you could water ski with it!
