![]() a few days ago i discovered a hidden lake on google maps in an industrial area of central jersey. And no, i wan't trespassing on anyone's property this time; there were no signs....fished that time for 20 minutes and got 2 nice ones on a zoom super fluke. Decided to come back today and fish from 5:30-9pm. used the flukes again with no results. switches to a wacky worm and caught 1 on the first cast, missed a few others. tried a buzzbait just for fun without expecting much but i was wrong...got 3 fish in 10 minutes and steady action continued through the day. ended up with 7 more, biggest around 2.5 lbs and also missed a bunch. Just another reason why i love underfished bodies of water. no crowds, plenty of action

![]() nice bass!
FWIW though, one thing to keep in mind... trespassing is still entirely possible on a property that is not signed or posted. in fact, in an industrial area of central NJ, like you are describing, it is highly likely that you were indeed trespassing. the owner or their agent could have you ejected from the property and the next time around have you arrested. when i scout out new fishing locations, i start out with google maps like you did, but then when i find a place that looks good, i check the tax maps to see who owns it to make sure that it is township, county, or state land, etc. before setting foot on the property. most counties have a GIS website that helps you look up this information. here is a link to the Morris county one for example Counties that don't have a GIS website are more difficult and you may need to visit township or borough offices to obtain the tax maps you will need.

![]() Remember: it's only trespassing if someone presses charges.

![]() the good thing about this place was it was in the woods, away from where anyone can see. but if someone of authority tells me to leave i will, but i would fish until that happens even if i'm not allowed to, considering how spectacular the action is at these private ponds. all my local parks are overfished anyway :P. i'm sure i'm not the only one who does it, hell i've seen a youtube video of a kid around my age catching a 6lber right in front of a NO FISHING sign. and it has thousands of views from around the country so he coulda got caught alot easier than me lol.
