![]() Anybody ever fish this section?
I kayaked it with my daughter today and it's beautiful. It's only accessible by kayak/canoe but it's 6-7 miles of river with no one on it. It's crystal clear with just a bit of structure here and there. I'll definitely be back with a pole soon. |

![]() Boonton to the falls is a great trout stretch but I'm assuming you are talking the slow moving stretch above that...it's a really good smallmouth spot but there are alot of other spieces...big channels, panfish, largemouth and trout are also there...

![]() I've seen a few kayaks in there over the years...always surprises me.
A kid caught a 43lb carp in that stretch a couple years ago. I've caught some nice smallmouth and pickerel, as the rockaway is within walking distance for me. The negative is that there are otters in there also, so there's some serious fishing competition. Also, the river is fairly high now but can get very low in spots during a dry summer. |

![]() i am looking at that stretch of river out my window right now
bottom bouncer pretty much nails the description there is some decent shoreline access, but the river at those parts is generally pretty boring, so yeah, kayak/canoe is the way to go parking/access at -the upstream dam in rockaway (jackson/ogden st) -gardner field in denville -a small one lot park on riverside drive in denville -mccarter park (street parking) -st claire's hospital -tourne park river access -small park at the dam in boonton you said 6-7 miles, so you put in at the upstream dam in rockaway?

![]() I put in in Denville. I guessed at 6 miles to the waterfall in Boonton where we took out.
