Default Raritan River Walleye 5/16

Hit the river from 9-11 today at the fish ladder for stripers/walleye and landed my first Raritan River walleye on my second cast, a solid 20 incher. He hit a black/silver husky jerk. I put in some solid hours on the river targeting walleye and after near misses on two bigger fish, it feels good to finally have landed my first. Next on the list, Raritan River Striper. Bring the rain!

Nice job on the eye....got my first one also not to long ago on a float trip with Andy.......Good luck on the stripe type pursuit....I got two yesterday morning.......thing is, with the little amounts of rain we have been getting don't wait to go. When it rains and the river is up jump. It dropped big time yesterday over the cousre of 12 hours almost back down to normal flow.

Thanks guys. Luckily the river is right in my backyard, so if the conditions are right I can be at the spot in about 2 mins. The river definitely has been going up/down very quickly so far this year.

Try to get a canoe and do a float trip, ALOT of untouched water in a heavily populated area, some really fishy looking water top to bottom and don't be afraid to throw big stuff. Congrats on the walleye !!
