Assumpink
Decided to go out and try some freshwater fishing which I rarely do. Loaded the canoe and headed for Assumpink Lake. When we arrived there were lots of boats out but we noticed the lake had a thick green slime so we drove over by the Dam, appeared to be a turquoise thick paint like substance floating on the surface. Does anyone know what thats all about. Did not fish headed for Colliers Mills and caught a couple of small picks.

Re: Assumpink
The stuff you saw on the surface was likely blue algae. Warmer temps the last few days probably caused a bloom. If there's a lot of it, best to stay away until it dies off. First couple of really cold nights should take care of it.

Re: Assumpink
Thanks for the information. Was worried someone had put an end to another lake in NJ. Stopped by Prospertown Lake, what a shame that was a beautiful lake to fish. Turnmill Pond where they transfered some of the fish was slow, only caught a couple small picks. Thanks again for the response.
