Beaverkill-East/West branch 9/18-19
Saw Lard quickly Sunday morning, he was still glowing from his trip the day before. He said was going to stay near Deposit for the day, I took off for the Beaverkill. I started at Carin's pool and hit just about every spot downstream, managed about a dozen browns to 14". Later in the day under a blazing sun I managed a small walleye near Rt. 191 in Hancock. I also fished the lower end of the no-kill in Deposit and had a nice fish on, 4 headshakes and a tail thrash and it parted my 4 lb. test like it was nothing. Ended up the day on the lower East branch in Hancock, got a tiny smallmouth, and talked to one gent who said he does good on walleye there.
Both the the East and West branches are running high. The East brach is running slate grey and the West branch just looks muddy. Peapackton and Cannonsville got turned upside down in all the flooding and the dirty water is filling the rivers. They say it could take weeks or months for the waters to clear up, on the contrary the Beaverkill is running gin clear and very low.
This morning I started at Junction pool and worked my way down to the East branch before I split for home, no photos of fish, you know what 12 to 14" brown trout look like.
