Default Weather forecasts increased activity in Fishery Mangement Forum ??

Guys / Girls/ Sponsers/ Capts:

Given the bad weather AGAIN for the weekend I would think its a good time to read this forum at length and please if you choose to spend some time doing so we would love to hear your input.

With the recent developments and obvious work done by United Boatmen/ RFA and SSFFF we should be aggressively pushing forward on these agendas as anglers/ captains by sharing opinions/ questions and at the very least the viewing public on this forum should double by Monday

Bad weather and unfortunately another slow day at the office got me reading the stock assements and some other posts and my head is swimming with questions / concerns / hope etc. Hope to post some of those soon just still trying to educate myself and better grasp all of it.

Not preaching just reminding that if you have some spare time until the wind dies down recognize what certain groups and individuals are doing and SPEAK UP / ASK etc

Dale, your right its time for everyone to start sending e-mails this weekend, not everyone can fish in the canal this weekend.
Here is something of intrest that I just got from NACO National Charter Captains Organization

Dear NACO Member,

LAWSUITS MULTIPLY AGAINST NMFS

As regulations continue to cause chaos among people and coastal communities those with the financial ability have started filing lawsuits to stop some of the insanity. Four of the current lawsuits have a component in common….Marine Recreational Fishery Statistical Survey (MRFSS), all four of these lawsuits accuse NMFS of not complying with the January 2009 mandate from congress to overhaul the MRFSS data system. Instead NMFS has charged on enforcing stringent overfishing rules without have the appropriate statistically sound data to make harvest estimations.

The Recreational Fishing Alliance (RFA) has filed suit over Seabass.

The Fishing Recreational Alliance had filed a lawsuit over the south Atlantic snapper grouper fisheries and the Gulf of Mexico Grouper and Amberjack fisheries. Additionally the Coastal Conservation Association (CCA) has filed suit in the Gulf of Mexico over the recent Grouper IFQ catch share program. They argue that NMFS has locked in an allocation and state it is inappropriate. I guess its up to the courts to settle this issue.

so I think that more than 1 area got burned lately

SSFFF is working on an OPEN PUBLIC MEETING!!! We have a group meeting on Tuesday to discuss, then we will let everyone know the date, place and time. I would expect no less than 500 attendees as we have alot to talk about!
I would also expect the people who's lives depend on this to be there. Your money is great, but it's time to shit or get off the pot!
We need every Party and Charter boat Captain involved as well as ALL the recreational guys who don't want to see a freedom taken away.
We overfished by 26% on Fluke??
Imagine you work for one of the top investment firms and you tell your boss, Sorry, my estimates on return for our customers fell short by 26% Would you have a job?
This is the crap we have dealt with for years and yet we hear "IT"S THE ONLY SCIENCE AVAILABLE!! BS....Tell it to someone who doesn't live it everyday.
The SSFFF is now funding our own project to battle this BS..when all is said and done, will anyone listen? Or is our future already in place by the powers that be?? Time will tell..but you can bet your ass, I'll be fighting till the end, Will YOU!!!
