Default Shark River fluke opener and bumper boat report

Started the 2019 season is less than desirable conditions. Beginning of the incoming with a hard WNW wind. Drift was either straight across or with the wind. The river was crowded as to the fact the bay side was not fishable.

Picked shorts and we managed 4 nice keepers to 22", but as the tide continued in the water became very dirty. Also the water temp. dropped from 58.2 to 51.1 at that point the bite totally shut off.

WE did notice many boats with Pa. registrations, and a total lack of courtesy by many. Hopefully after today things will settle down.

Dakota, a friend did tell me the pinhooker has been in Shark River this spring. A body of water this size cannot support a commercial operation, and have the recreational fleet expect to be able to take their leftovers

Henry

PS back at it tomorrow.

Thanks Henry for the trip! Good body of fish on the early bite before conditions deteriorated. Probably 24-30 or so fish @ 17 inches with some smaller and the few keepers but nice to feel the Fluke "Tug"and get out

They actually made a permit just for SHARK RIVER ( and cant be used anywhere else). this may even be the third year it existed.
