Default Ghosts

Started yesterday at the Allenhurst Jetty for dead high around 1100.

Then headed to the jetty over by the Asbury Park dog park. They are a setting up a stage for commie Bruce and some concert. Conditions were awesome over there making great bottom contact with 1/4 oz jig head and 5 inch mullet gulp.

Then headed to the rocks at Bradley and fished those.Walked those rocks south and fished every set of jetty’s all the way to Avon.

Fished the water in between those jetty’s also.

Saw schools of mullet here and there.

5 shorts all day - total bust.

JC, how was the water quality? After a few days of strong North / Northeast winds, surf fishing for fluke typically takes a hit. Combine that with the lack of fish coming out of the bays this season. I think the fish that were staging in deeper water, some have already started their migration east and I just don't think the biomass presiding in deeper water in the summer which come inshore late August early September to gorge themselves on the bait fish pouring out of the bays before starting their migration is close to the level it used to be. Fish have started heading out and the size of the biomass is down, especially the older age classes which make up recreational keepers. This week will be interesting with good weather in the forecast. Fish will be caught but in my opinion nowhere near the number of keepers there should be this time of year which historically represented the best fishing of the season. Boats that know the migration paths and staging points of the schools moving back east will catch fish, anyone just fishing typical summer structure I think will be in for tough sledding.
