Super Fishing Today - Big Jamaica
Super Fishing Tuesday!
Mackerel - Bluefish - Sea Bass Tuesday Report 7/11 Fishing was excellent today! We fished the same area today where bluefin tuna have been caught recently. Unfortunately, we didn't catch any tuna today but, we caught plenty of Mackerel. It did not take long before the mackerel schooled heavily under the boat and everyone was catching them. We are chumming and catching the fish on Jigs & Bait. We had good action all day until it was time to head in. We are sailing open-boat everyday at 7:30AM. There is plenty of space available on all of our trips this week. NIGHT BLUEFISH We also have Night trips sailing on Friday and Saturday night leaving 7:30PM - 1AM. FAMILY FUN AFTERNOON TRIPS Family Fun afternoon trips for Fluke and Sea Bass sail from 4PM - 8PM You can purchase tickets at the dock or you can buy tickets online for priority boarding. OFFSHORE TUNA Our first trip for tuna will sail at 10PM July 17th, JULY 24, and more dates There is still space available. TILEFISH Our next tilefish trip sails 10PM July 18 and there is space available. Re: Super Fishing Today - Big Jamaic
What is anyone doing with these chub mackerel. I’ve never tried them but I’ve heard they are not good. I’ve eaten Boston or Atlantic mackerel. It’s crazy years ago we fished in the winter for Atlantic mackerel and whiting and now they are no longer a fishery so we fish in the summer for chum bait 🤦*♂️🤦*♂️🤦*♂️. I just wonder how many people are actually eating this stuff. It’s crazy that this is our fishery today. Time to wake up.

Re: Super Fishing Today - Big Jamaica
Look like they'd make for a solid sword bait... brined and rigged properly.

Re: Super Fishing Today - Big Jamaica
I've never tasted one but as far as table fare is concerned, keeping them in a cooler in 90° heat with no ice I can't imagine helps the culinary experience.
I will tell you in June and July when threshers are around, they're one of the best thresher baits I've ever used. Bridle them with an elastic band between the eyes and drop them down, they last for hours and threshers love them. Anyone getting in on the mid shore / offshore yft bite, the same. I wouldn't hesitate to sabiki a few up on the way out and keep them in the live well. Great big eye, bft and yft bait live lined. Egg sinker, barrel swivel, 3-4 ft of fluoro and hooked the same way with an elastic band through the eyes and bridled. Swords do love them too. Always wanted to troll them but never have. I'd think if you brine them, rig them properly and keep them on ice they hold up and be great trolling baits offshore. |
