Default Early fluke fishing

The fluke fishing season this year seems to be off to a stronger start than the past few years both in the bays and the ocean. Seems to be a nice mix between larger fish and shorts which is a good sign. Curious what people attribute a stronger start to the season to or is it just my imagination?

I'm hoping it's just going to be a good season also but I'm thinking with the constant east winds the grounds are not being fished as hard as usual so there is less fishing pressure. Also for some reason there seems to be less boats on the water.

I was surprised how few boats I saw Oceanside this morning .
Was like a lake out there , so def not weather related .

Really hope they toss this slot size next year .
We threw back LOTS of fluke between 20-23” today agin looking for slot fish .

Seems to be a huge body of 16-16 12” fish .
Next group all seem to be 19 1/2” to 23”

.
