Default Inlet fluke

Caught and released 4 undersized fluke on an Ava jig in Manasquan Inlet this evening on the full moon incoming tide. Tagged 3. Saw a school of fish chasing bait up the inlet. The smallest ray that I ever saw was swimming very fast in the inlet.

I’ve seen a lot of single small rays as well as pods (up to 6) of small rays in MI as far back as Dog Beach for the past several weeks. Every now & then I’ll spot a bigger one.

#1-3 bluefish have been chasing and spraying bait (Inlet is choked with rainfish, spearing & 1-2 inch peanut bunker) especially at the mouth of the inlet for over 2 weeks.

FYI, I’ve been catching the blues on a #1 Deadly Dick but can not get them to bite on an AVA.

Thanks for the valuable information. I didn’t catch a bluefish or striped bass in the inlet this year but expect to do more catching now.
