Had today off so told my crew to meet me at 8 this morning. Got to the dock and it was blowing NNE at around 20. They said are you sure, my reply, wind against tide in the river, we should be fine. With the wind and water temp. we should have been ling and cod fishing
Drift was very strange thought we would drift from the Avon side across, wrong. Drift was slight to the East and Belmar to Avon, very strange. Fished from 8 til 10, bottom of the outgoing, water 51.8. Once we found a patch we worked it and ended up with our 4 man limit. Larry boated a fish around 5 pounds and Ron lost 1 around 7 - 8 pounds. Lots of 17 - 17.99 but enough overs to fill our limit. Back to the dock at 10. Will hopefully get out later this week. The fact we where catching warmed the morning. |

Two hour 12 fish limit, who woulda thunk it? Using last year's regs we would've had 4 keepers.... it was rough losing Ronnie's big one at the boat but we just ordered up one more 'over' and voila..... thanks Henry, great trip!

Not as bad as I would have thought with the constant roll in the inlet.
Water slightly brown but you could see fish a couple feet below the surface. |

Great job.
I chartered out of Shark River Hills and Belmar for years. The river was pretty poor on size and numbers. It was so bad one person found sea robins will strike a naked gold colored hook consistently. NOW THATS BORING! Nice job!
