Saturday 4/9 - fish lit up the screen
Spring has sprung, for sure. Saturday was a bit windy for the 8 hour kayak session but the fish were hungry. Got 4 nice bass including this 18".
Right by where I got the bass I sat over a huge school of crappie for about 2-3 hours and caught about 40 of them with quite a few over 13 inches. Also got a few perch and about a dozen pickerel - one went 22" and was stuffed with food. Just a great day of catch and release in Central NJ. Oddly enough, not one trout caught in this stocked pond, yet I caught all the bass on a white rooster tail. No idea where the trout were/are. Bass and pickerel must be munching on the trout buffet.

Re: Saturday 4/9 - fish lit up the screen
Hey Irish angler, I think we were parked next to each other at the launch.
A guy came over to ask us about kayaks, anyway, I had the same experience that day, I got 5 bass, all on Mepps spinners. 2 pickerel 1 on a Texas rig and the other on a wacky rig. That was my first time at the lake, I will be back for sure. Next time I’ll have some bait for the trout. |

Hey - nice meeting you Stella! Small world indeed. Yeah, I was asking a few folks there if they got any trout...NONE! I think the cormorants and big fish have been eating very well the last 2 weeks. Hope to see you again...cheers! Great name by the way...big fan.
