To monitor it that quickly you'd have to have an observer on every boat fishing for them reporting to a central location.

Ridiculously complicated to do a 6 fish season.

I guess they don't talk to the hunting side. If it walks of flies the management that they use won't work. They could issue 6 permits on a lottery with a set time limit to fill them. If the permit holder doesn't fill the tag then that fish is safe. The holder can't ever reapply again giving the rest of the interested fishermen a shot next year. Pretty wild idea right?

I read about that several days ago.. Like 550-600 guys on that lake trying to catch one of those 6 fish..

Reminds me of what we have here in NY state on a lake called Whitney Point Reservoir... They have a "Crappie Derby".. Upwards of 2000 ice fishermen some years on a lake just a few miles long... Then they wonder why the crappie population and average size is not very good.
One thing that bothers me about too way many sportsmen-
If there was one more trophy fish left in a lake, or one more big 12 point buck left in the woods, there would be hundreds or even thousands of applicants to be the person that took that last trophy home.. Human nature and all that..... bob

Curious, Whats to stop one boat from radioing in saying they have one. And then fish past the 6 fish close notice to get their phantom fish?
