![]() They can as can any other jig. Depends on the day.
Spring inshore I’ve had success with small Ava 3 oz gold or silver Hammer jigs. The trick to jig fishing is trying different Things until you figure out what works. Some days jig Some days teaser other days bait. I have caught large Sea bass on a spro while fluking: Good luck and let us know how you did |

![]() They work well at certain times, but not sure its worth the cost if you leave a few of them in the rocks..
Another thing to consider- Sometimes the fish are really keyed on small sand eels.. Often real small- just a few inches long.. At those times nothing beats a really small ava or similar, such as a 007... Lots of guys use big 4-6 oz jigs in 40-50 fow when jigging sea bass something I never understood, but hey they catch plenty of fish.. You can use a Spro of course, and they will catch sea bass, but I have never found them to be any better than a plain old small AVA with no tail... bob |

![]() As said best off using a jig that mimics sand eels .
Those jigs are easy to work the water column with . Avas work great , but I think flat sides jigs like a Gibbs minnow flutters better on the fall and get more hits .

![]() all is good advice and all will work.the best thing to do is find what works good for you.remember confidence is the most important part.i like the ava's,hammer
likes the flutter and bullet likes the small jigs because we have confidence in them. |

Ava worked through water column when they are chasing sand eels off the bottom are deadly . When not actively chasing jigs that flutter and die like a live bait get twice the hits . Extra flash as in Mylar or hammer finished get some extra hits because they flash more . Sometimes when squid are around a glow jig gets crushed when nothing else gets touched . In all these threads a repeated statement is sometimes they just turn off . IMO they may not be aggressively feeding but will always get reaction strikes using different retrieve methods . I’m in a little different position than guys in a head boat as I’m actively putting the boat on the fish never stopping watching the screen . I tell guys how they are reacting making fishing easier . .
