Default Covering ground.

Have covered a lot of ground the last few days and still have a spot to hit reserved for this weekend. Started out on the Saddle River in Lodi with my medium action avid and a single lure. Was able to land 20 smallies and bunches of panfish within a 1mile stretch, best 2 went 16" a piece, next was 15" & smaller, no pics.
Had a guest appearence by my boy A to get at some Larries so we hit up a secret spot that holds em & got rewarded quickly. While passing around the secret tackle we each landed about 15 a piece with the biggest being 19". Not a bad day at all!

Back down to the Dundee Dam under the falls throwing keitechs through the current and stayed fairly busy with panfish and smallies under the midday sun. Missed a monster catfish while throwing the same small keitech after setting the hook and trying to move him a bit. He bent the hell outta my jighead then that was that. Was able to land 13 pike and missed 3 more all while throwing the same old beat up spoon I pulled out of a snag & put a hook on. None ran too big at all but damn were they hungry for that raggity lure! This was the best smallie of the day at 17".

Had a free day to myself to take care of a few things then made good enough time to hit my other river friends. Brought some trash bags with me to put work in and totally killed it after the bite slowed down. Started with that same damn spoon and only got a dink for a bit. Changed up to the trusty homemade lure and it was game on. Caught 3 more while there & the 1st of those 3 ran the biggest at 37 1/2". Soo awesome when hooking up with my homemade gear, feels great!
Hopefully i can find a lunker or 2 this weekend!

Sweet mixed bag man! I have to give the Dundee Dam a shot sometime, looks like a cool place to fish.

Never fished there, but thanks for cleaning up! That's a nice collection there. I wish everyone had the same ideas as you do.

It was Andy's idea, seemed like common sense to pitch in around my spots/area too. But yea, I wish more ppl would follow suite as well. #Trashbag right!!

Great report, and a ton of good fishing karma to you for your clean-up efforts. I've done a bit of that, but you took it to a whole new level.

I used to live in the apartments beside the Saddle River, just behind the police station, and fished it a few times while living there. There were a lot of good size fish for how small that water gets in some places. Nice to read about it again.

And I used to wade out to the little island below the Dundee Dam. Caught more different species of fish from that 500-600 yards of water below the dam than I've caught in any other single location. It's a lure eating area with all the snags and assorted trash below the falls, but the fish are there for sure.

Funny how those found lures that you can put back into action seem to have extra mojo, almost as much as the homemade ones.

Good Job and thanks for posting EL!
