![]() I don’t get to post many reports these days because I don’t get to fish as much as I used to. With a 5 and a soon to be 7 year old, other activities take priority. I finally had the opportunity to take the kids fluking on a NS out of brigantine last Friday. The wind was honking so I didnt have high expectations. Well to my surprise I had one of my best days on the water ever. Not because I caught a lot of fish. It was how my daughter (Zoey) stayed at the rail all morning and fished like a pro and she was rewarded with the pool winner with a 4 and a half pound fluke. She hooked many of the fish herself and reeled them in by herself too. It was a day I’ll never forget. I hope I have a fishing partner for life. My son Jimmy was really not even interested and wanted nothing to do with anything related to fishing. I tried to get him involved but nothing worked. Thank god I had means to keep him occupied. He’s only 5 so I hope maybe in the near future he will try again. But Zoey, I was so impressed how much she grasped just the act of fishing. Holding the rod by herself, the ability to feel bottom, and catching fish on her own. She was so excited that she won the pool. The first thing she wanted to do is treat he brother to ice cream when we got back to the campground. To say I’m a proud papa is an understatement. We’re gonna do it again next week. She can’t wait.
