![]() Forget the fact Northern Pike have a daily bag limit of 2 fish and a minimum size of 24 inches.
We will just post a sign with a bass on it stating these waters are stocked with Northern Pike. ![]() |

![]() i guess they must be doing a pretty great job if this is the kind of thing that's left to nitpick
plus if they made signs for every type people would be complaining it's a waste of resources ![]()

![]() .
Good enough for government work. ![]() The signs really do need to be more clear and informative. Before trout season opens, I sometimes see people fishing in Seeley's Pond. A few times I jumped out of my car and yelled at them to leave pointing to the sign the hatchery workers staple to the tree. In almost all the instances, the people fishing were foreigners who were so clueless about fishing laws they couldn't understand what information the sign was giving them. Part of it is a language barrier, but the other issue is the sign just wasn't clear and simple enough for people of limited comprehension to understand. The Northern Pike sign with the picture of the wrong fish and no information isn't a step in the right direction. . ![]() .

![]() I like the sign for a number of reasons.
1.) It tells me where these fish were raised. These fished could be raised on the moon for all anyone cares. 2.) They go onto to tell about Federal Sport Fish Restoration Program, good to know where my tax dollars are going. Are these fish tax deductible when I file my Federal income tax ? 3.) Nice picture of a Largemouth Bass. 4.) What it's not in Spanish also like the new trout signs ? Should have a picture of a Northern Pike on it. Should state open and closed seasons as well as bag limits and minimum length in both inches and centimeters. I like the fact the tree is covered in poison ivy also. |

![]() Sure, signs could be improved. But does it mean it'll improve some of the problems?
I think the purpose of signage like this is just to raise awareness to people taking a hike and saying "hey look there IS fish in here, I should fish it next time" A big picture of a bass and a short message of "yes, there's fish in here" is all that is needed to convey this. Any angler that cares to follow the rules will do more research rather than just look at a sign. I don't see how detailed signage will improve much. When does it ever. |

![]() Did you happen to scan the QR code at the bottom right of the sign? I was wondering what additional information the link may have.
