![]() Hello everyone, just wanted to introduce myself and hopefully start participating on a regular basis. Have just lived in NJ for a couple years now (Ohio originally) and am finally picking up my new boat tomorrow and hope to spend the year learning Lake Hopatcong. Been reading a lot of your guys’ posts and am excited to get going. Have never really fished the lake much other than a few times at Brady Bridge so lots to learn here and hopefully report back. Hope to see some of you on the water!

![]() Welcome to the asylum!
Hopatcong is a fickle mistress. The lake gets a ton of fishing pressure and the lock jaw can test your will at times. Time on the water will reveal some go to spots. Try and fish off hours and in less than ideal weather. During the weekends there maybe as many as 4 fishing tournaments and a ton of pleasure boaters. Memorial day to Labor Day is pleasure boat madness. Be safe out there.

![]() Thanks Squatch. Yeah I’ve picked up on the weekend thing. Luckily I’ll be mostly a Mon-Fri fisherman. And the occasional weekend I’m sure I’ll be a part of the madness with the family in tow. All part of the experience I guess

![]() welcome to the cong.. you will have places to hide from all the googans in the coves and backwaters. the nite bite can be fun as well just remember to wear some garlic as there are vampires that only fish at nite for hybrids and walleyes. the perch and crappie bite in the spring is fun as well. hope to see you on the water tight lines
