Default Looking For Reel Recommendations

Happy New Years Everyone. I'm new to the group, long time lurker first time poster. I'm having a striper rod made by Kevin Bogan. Conventional 7 foot medium heavy power e glass blank. Will be used on head boats fishing shads, crocs and ava jigs. Looking for reel recommendations for a budget up to $300. Thank You

Penn Fathom star drag 25N, and save some coin. That's one good candidate, and I am sure you will hear others.

I have a Torium 20HGA (newer model) that I've used 3x. Pretty sure I have the box and papers too. Just got a new Trinidad so I won't be using it anymore. It holds 420 yds. of 20 pound mono, 24lbs. of drag, 46 inches per turn and weighs 19.2oz. I had it on a 7-foot heavy, Seeker Black Steel graphite and it was perfect. It retails $240, is in mint working condition and probably near mint cosmetic (it's been on the ceiling for a year and haven't looked at it in a bit) and I'd sell it for $120. I've used it 2x for wreck fishing and 1x for striper fishing and it's money for both. PM me if interested.

The Shimano Torium recomended looks like a great reel although I have never used it. I would recommend a few of the Daiwa conventional reels.

Daiwa makes a Saltist Hyperspeed 20 or 30 with plenty of speed (7:3:1) and drag (22lb.). One other recommendation that not many would suggest is a Daiwa Lexa 300 HS (7:1:1).

Both have up to 22lb drag and very smooth and fast retrieves for casting and jigging. I personally use a Lexa 300 HS with the power handle and it makes casting a pleasure!
