Caught a shad with my hand
Went carping in 64 degrees Carnegie Lake this evening on a cold, sunny day with a moderate northwest wind. Threw out corn 🌽 for chum, then caught 6 white perch, 5 black crappies, 4 bluegills, 3 largemouth bass, a brown bullhead and a channel catfish with canned, whole kernel corn 🌽 bait and a 1/32 oz twister tail jig on 2 lb test line. Landed 134 fish 🐟 in one spot on the past 5 evenings. Caught 1,409 fish 🐠 in 200 NJ fresh water fishing trips this year. Saw 7 other fishermen catch fish 🎣. One guy on the Aqueduct horsed in a big bass but broke his line then lost the fish 🐟 when he lifted it from the water. He left, but returned with a landing net and caught some fish. I caught a shad with my hand 🤚 then gave it to the resident great blue heron. It ate 10 fish 🐠 again. Mosquitoes 🦟 were biting again. I killed 4. I was very fortunate to be able to fish 🎣 in the same spot on 5 consecutive evenings in the most densely populated State of NJ.
