Default Big Pike

Got out in the yaks tonight with limited time. Picked up a 30" or so second cast on a trout pattern crankbait, not a bad start. We picked up a mid 20's Pike on a frog shortly after. Started losing daylight, swapped on a big walk the dog and got t-boned by a t-rex. The water explodes, fish ran towards me, had two short but powerful runs, then ended up in my net. Measured out at 40", my new personal best. This big girl was healthy, had a monster head, and swam away very quickly after a quick revival. She was sitting in a foot of water, possibly chasing through a school of bait about 30 seconds before hitting!

Damn...great looking fish. I can't seem to break the 36" mark fishing from shore

I don't know how you boat guys handle those big fish so easily. I'm on shore and even the 25-30" ones give me fits with all their jumping around. I got tagged good in my ring finger yesterday. And they just love splashing passaic mud all over clean shirts and camera lenses. lol. Just getting one good side view picture is an adventure.
