Reel Class Friday 11/11 Veteran's Day Bass - Good Fishing!
Today we had some of our longtime customers out on the boat, Steve B his buddy Coop with Steve's nephew and son-in law and Steve's buddy Jimmy - one of our regulars Mike W filled their last spot on the trip.
Left early. Found bait early as the sun was coming up. In the pods, we read fish so we stuck to this initial area. Guys went to work quickly w/ the snag and drop and we had a slow but steady pick for the first couple of hours picking a mix of really nice fish to 45" as well as a couple dinks (30"-31") on the live baits. By around 11 that bite dried up so we went looking and found some more bait and one more jumbo of 45" and 30# taken by Jimmy. After that fish, things slowed to a grinding halt. Very hard NW wind came on, drove the bait to god knows where, and the fish just shut off. Tried trolling spoons - no bites. Called it a day just short of 2 with the crew's limit of unders to about 41", as well as 2 overs (30#, 32#) taken by both Jimmy's. Also got to see a whale breach several times - this is now becoming a regular occurence in our bunker pods! Real nice trip until the end - but the guys did a great job going 8-13 on the bass and put together a nice catch! |
