portable rod recommendation

back in the day I had a telescoping rod that I used when travelling. currently, while I look for a new truck, I'm driving a two seater with very limited space so I don't leave my rods in the car. I'm looking for something I can leave in the back for those "wish I had a pole with me" moments. Been looking at all the new telescoping rods on ebay as well as ice fishing combos from the big stores. Anyone have any ideas and/or recommendations? Any help is greatly appreciated, thanks in advance!

Iv'e had the same 3 piece Ugly Stick Pack Rod for at least ten years now and it gets a LOT of use. It's always in my truck, I beat the hell out of it and still performs like any other ugly stick. Mine's a 5' UL and they make some longer heavier models also. You can find them for around $40. Most major rod companies make pack rods but they can get up there in price.

I have had an Okuma travelling rod for years now and love it!

Its a 5 piece kit with a travel bag and is rated for 4#-8# test.

Brought it to Belize with me for my honeymoon and caught bones and barracudas all day long!

I keep it in my car now for when I have any free time when on the road to throw a line.

Can't go wrong- gx2 or elite. they take a beating and their cheap enough wear if you do break one, it's 40$, not 100+. And the tips are replaceable if it meets a car door (whoops)

I've had bad luck with the telescoping rods. They always seem to immediately break or just fall apart.

Lately, when I vacation I take a Bass Pro Shops Extreme Travel Rod. (I don't see it in the online catalog, so they may no longer sell it.) It's a three-piece rod that fits into a hard case. It's one short-coming is a three piece rod in a case can still be pretty big when you're trying to pack light.

That was 43 years ago to be exact! I had the tan one too and caught a few with it. No fun for me it's like ice fishing!
