![]() My buddy gave me an offer i cant refuse on a 16' Carolina Skiff on a trailer. He has only used the trailer for local hauls/winter storage. He has no title, reg, plate, etc.. I have bigger plans and want to tow it all over the place. I have a few other registered trailers i could grab a plate off for the ride home.
Have any of you guys recently attempted to register an undocumented trailer? I've read up a little on trying to go the home made route but it's obviously a PIA. Thanks

![]() The trailer you have to prove it's not been stolen by you or your seller. That's a pain in the ass.
You need a bill of sale and a notarized statement from the seller. Be careful as it actually may be stolen too. Be very careful here. You run a lot of risk. And it may be worth the hoops. Even if legitimate, you will fine the seller will bend over backwards before you pay him. Once paid he will likely treat you like a smelly homeless drunkard acting like he does not know you.

![]() haha, the seller is actually a friend of mine...Who treats everyone like a smelly drunk homeless bastards anyway....so nothing lost there. I got the trailer home with a dummy plate this past sunday. After some needed bearing/hub maintenance I'll prob just throw it up on craigslist as is and use the money towards a documented trailer.
