Default greenwood lake question

Hey all, taking the kids fishing on greenwood lake this weekend. I have a 12ft boat with a 9.9hp. This will be my first time on the lake. I have small kids so we are just looking to catch fish not necessarily the biggest. Any good fishing spots or suggestions would be really appreciated.

I would suggest finding a different lake with small kids. This is Labor day weekend and it will be packed with other boaters. You can catch all the sunfish you want at monksville and still use your motor and not have to worry about getting swamped in the process. Good luck and enjoy your day with the Kids

2nd to bird dog- green turtle pond-waywayanda are better bets too. Greenwood lake will be full of boats making take- going too fast near each other

Monksvilles ramps are free- and nice
Be safe-and have fun !

I 3rd staying away from greenwood on a holiday weekend. Plus it's supposed to be blowing this weekend, recipe for disaster, especially if you will be bringing the kids. Lots of unskilled and inconsiderate boaters out there and labor day usually brings out the best of them (and the booze). Monksville, Wawayanda, Green Turtle, Sheppard's, or Pompton are all better options.

4th, 5th and 6th Stay the hell off Greenwood. It's a zoo on most weekends and the holiday weekend will be even worse. Pompton Lake is a solid choice with a free ramp, 9.9hp limit and in comparison to Monksville, you may actually catch something. Find some 5-10 foot areas that aren't too choked off with weeds (immediately south of the launch), fish some crawlers under worms and they'll catch fish.

Where ever you go make it Saturday. Big wind forecasted for sunday. Only good for sailing when it's a steady 30mph.

DO NOT TAKE KIDS ON A SMALL BOAT ON GWL THIS W/E , if you do plan on getting off the water before the beers start popping.

I would suggest MONKSVILLE as well but your still have to deal with DICK'S NAVY-all the yahoos who bought those $199.00 special yaks @ DICKS & the paddleboard brigades. Go head towards the trees on the western shore area & you will find all the crappie & pan fish you can handle in 15-25' of water. Parking can be a bitch there on there on the week end, especially this week end.

If you have electric motors then the move would be YANDA,just get there really early before the hoards from the hood descend on the park. It is quite comical listening to the poor lifeguards trying to communicate to the bathers on the horn- they really need multi-lingual lifeguards there.

Plus once SHEPARDS & YANDA fill up it becomes the MONKSVILLE RIVIERA complete with bucket brigades, bbq pits & all kinds of mayhem. What a scene, what a scene. It is a blast to watch though-caught the show last SUNDAY & it did not disappoint. Love watching them paddle boarders haul ass when it starts raining, so much fun under the bimini with a cold beer.

Definitely stay away from Greenwood this weekend.... I was there this past Sunday and by 10am with the wake from all the boat traffic I could barely stand in an 18' deep V to cast. There are really no good weed beds from all the herbicide they throw in there plus there is also a major algae bloom going on right now... less than a foot of visibility and it looks like a cesspool. Stick with the other suggestions provided above.
