Default Mudhole

Can someone tell me how a storm like this affects the water? Will the water at the Mudhole be cleaner, dirtier, or no different? Planning to head out to the pots for Mahi after this passes and was looking for suggestions on the next best day to go.

Very hard to say. Water has been dirty green all the way out past the hole and beyond so with the east wind, followed by a hard south, it's going to be hard to say what it looks like out there --- my guess is not a real big change but you never know.

The Northeast/East winds were not that significant. I was hoping for the same thing and they initially thought that the system would have been a little stronger, but that was not the case. It will probably be no better or worse than it has been.

it looks pretty bad right now. there is some really nice looking water from moriches inlet east, that is the clean offshore water pushing north, and it tends to swirl left as soon as it hits up against the south shore of long island. but as soon as the clean water sweeps in to the area from fire island inlet south to the mudhole and west to the jersey shore it seems to bloom and turn green, in my opinion because of all the nutrients coming out of the hudson. i sit in front of a computer for my job so I look at this most days whenever it is available, and its been like this for weeks. real bummer.

I'm in the same boat and looking for the same change before I commit to making the run. Spoke to several people watching and they are waiting in the wings too. Spoke to one of our members who went out last week and said the water was so dirty you could not even see a foot down below the pots.

Lets hope this changes soon because I'm growing tired of looking at all the gear that's been staged in my office for several weeks now.

looks like a few good shots of water being pushed inside of the hudson, but the mudhole still looks dirty. water looks to clean up be about 40-45 miles off
