![]() I have a free weekend from the girlfriend and a buddy has a pass from the wife and kids. Wanted to do an overnight trip somewhere and considering that it's still spawning season for bass and in NY most counties where I go are closed until 3rd weekend of June I was thinking going to the Delaware. I could use some advice on where to go to camp for a night and launch a boat and still have a decent amount of water to get the thing around. Inflatable with 5 horse outboard. I was thinking the campground on old mine road but have never been there. I think there a launch very close to there. Any help wold be great.
Never fished the delaware. What should I be targeting? |

![]() Campground on the Old Mine Rd is a good choice. Cant find a website for them but I know campground is still there.
I believe its state owned but I have not been there in ages so I don't know if anything changed. Word of advise if you will be using it though. Make sure all food is locked away as far as possible from the tent. Bears do come down and I have personally seen them tearing the tent apart 3 spots away from me after the family decided to leave food lying around. Lucky for the family they were out hiking. __________________________________________________ ___________ Another one which might be pricier but still a good choice is Kittatinny Canoes campground in Barryville. They have an immediate access to the river, I mean you can literally park your inflatable 5 feet away from your tent. They have a stocked trout stream there as well. Used this campground on multiple occasions when using canoe over the weekend on Delaware. Details here: http://kittatinny.com/camping/kittatinny-campground/ As far as what to target your choices are plenty. Trout, bass, pike, catfish, walley just to name a few. I do believe Kittatinny offers drop of service along the river and their launching points. So you can get a campground and have them take you up with your boat upstream so all you have to do is just take the current take you down. I know they did that to kaykaers so you can verify with them if you go this route. Regardless enjoy your time and let your lines be tight. Andre |

![]() Yes, very low.
Last Sunday at the Delaware Water Gap I watched a moron in a bass boat smash his prop into the river bed. He launched from the Poxono boat ramp, turned right, and tried running up-river in that section of river that's now a dead end. Crunch! .

![]() There are many designated primitive camp sites along the river. I personally have done almost 100 miles of the Delaware from my kayak on multi-night trips using these camp sites. Hopefully my buddy Bling306 sees this and chimes in, he's the Delaware guru haha.

![]() Polelock stole my thunder! That map shows where the designated camp sites are throughout the Gap. There are other opportunities to camp such as islands and unmarked clearings. I was just on the Delaware on Sunday, did 10 miles from Bushkill to Smithfield Beach and I will echo the other sentiments, it is VERY LOW. I did see a few boaters out there though. I think if you launch from Bushkill and go south, you should be OK. After you first launch, there will be some prime campsites on the NJ side, which is before Wallpack Bend. Wallpack has areas that are 75+" deep, although there is a small stretch where it gets pretty shallow there too.

![]() That map is very helpful and so are the water reports. Almost seems better to do it as a float rather than put in and motor around. Anyone know of people to call for transport?
