![]() River gauge estimates do not look good for opening day of trout season, looks like the lakes will be the best bet. Not calling off the M&G just yet, but this isn't good.

![]() Scouted the Musky from Rt 31 to Rt 57 yesterday. She was a tad stained and running high and fast. The ground is still thawing out from the long, deep freeze so we gotta make do with what we have. Mother nature is the Queen of my domain. Listen to her and she will show you the way…………………………………..

![]() The streams may be cold, but they are not out of their banks. They are very, very fishable. You might have to add a few more shots to get the bait down deeper but I think the streams are running fine. If the water is fairly clean, the fish will bite. Some streams are lower than others. The SB was running a bit low for spring. Wading the higher streams will require more caution but you'll still be able to get around. If you have any doubts about your abilities in the bigger streams or higher water levels, pick a nice little stream or brook. Except for the lack of the bigger bonus breeders, the rest of the trout are the same size whether they are in the Pequest or Honey Run or Capoolong Creek. Picking the best bait is a key. If the water is high, a nice juicy worm fished near the bottom will probably do better than an egg or power bait. If the water is down a bit, and clear, an egg or power bait will do the job. I've seen a lot worse conditions on opening days gone by and everyone still had a good time and even caught some trout. A couple of the major streams have been and will be stocked this week. The trout won't be far from where they were put. Tight Lines!
