Default the reel seat. .

I posted a thread awhile back looking for info on tile fishing. Dave from the reel seat commented giving me some general info bit advised me to stop by his shop for more. Yesterday I was in the area and I stopped by the reel seat. Beautiful shop, tons of tackle, and unlimited information. I spoke with Dave for about an hour. He showed me everything from tackle to gear to bait. Great guy. I will be back shortly to buy a reel to go on my first time fishing trip. I decided on an ocean max 10. Thoughts on that reel?

I bought an Ocean Max 05 for tog fishing this year. I don't like the metal handle that comes on the 05, but the 10 has the rubber handle. The anti-reverse dogs (2) are engaged constantly so there is a clicking noise when ever you turn the handle, not a big deal but I was tired of it by the end of the season.

Over all I'm happy with it, but already bought something else for next year.

Maxel changed the way the back up anti reverse dogs work last fall and the reels are now silent. Many dealers sold off the older noisy versions at a discounted price. They are also changing the handles on the 5 & 6 sizes to a ball handle.

Sent my reel in for repair to the Reel Seat. Great service and communication! Thank you njfishing.com for the recommendation.

I was also looking at the ocean max 10 last season. Loved the feel of it in my hands, especially the handle.
