![]() With opening day upon us here is a quick link to access locations to trout stock waters in New Jersey.
http://www.state.nj.us/dep/fgw/accesscnty.htm I know most already have their spots but for someone who is starting out that will be helpful. Someone like me for example. Andre |

![]() Stocked trout...yawn, yawn, yawn. Yup that is good sport.
Opening day reminds me of going to a NEW YEAR'S EVE party late & everyone else is drunk already. At that point you realize what a-holes drunks are & stay sober. Oh well to each his own, go fill them freezers with bland tasting trout feed on dog food. Would rather see the state invest more revenue into other warm water species that have a shot @ holding over & establishing a sustainable fishery. |

![]() well it's more of a tradition at this point. it's an event. i go with my father-in-law every year and the big ones still fight great, so i'm going to have to disagree with you on that one. And although you're right about the different flesh taste, with a little effort you can make them taste great just like all the other fish people hate to eat because they're too lazy to put in the effort to cook them properly.
like i said it's a traditional event, i do opening day and maybe 2-3 other wading adventures for them when i'm too tired after work to lug a boat or kayak. I think you're looking at it the wrong way. |

![]() Yea trout season, especially opening day, has become an event for my buddy and I. I look at trout season as the beginning of spring, it's nice and easy, we all get to walk around and get our winter rust off in nice weather and if seasoned and prepared properly, they taste pretty good to me.

![]() Couldn't agree more. In college I use to fish with my friend every week. Now with our schedules Opening day has become a tradition and we are lucky to squeeze more then 3 other days in.
Any recommendations on a location for this year? We are looking to try somewhere new (usually we are in union county). No boat no waders not afraid to hike get in the woods etc. |

![]() Thanks for sharing the info Andre. This is great for guys like me who forget about all of the great info out there...plus I'm mostly too lazy to go hunting it down.
These access points are not only good for opennng day and trout...those rivers hold a couple other species of fish too. Just in case you haven't noticed from all of the info on this site ![]() I never did an openning day until last years NJF MnG at Dukes. Now I'll go to everyone I can make just for the great time that it is. Most guys have been doing it their whole lives...like many of you said on this thread...so it's a great opportunity to learn and share as well. Now if it can just stop dropping into the teens at night that would be nice...come on spring time! See you out there boys.

![]() Sorry but I have never had a good experience going elbow with guys who can't fish, do not know the first thing about fishing, cast at wherever someone just caught a fish, cross lines, snag the bottom, stink of beer & talk like they live in caves. I have tried to focus on the social aspect but the total experience never justifies the end results. That is a great day to stay off the away from the herd.
Tie a stocked 12" trout to a 6" creek chub & you will see who wins that contest. |
