Default Local Ponds 4/13/14

I stayed local to scratch the itch this afternoon, and made the short drive to Franklin Lake. I caught one ~1 lb. bass on a small black spinnerbait. Lots of guys soaking bait and power cheese for the stockies, but I didn't see any caught. There were a couple kids by the outflow slaying the white perch and bullheads on nightcrawlers. Saw two huge snapping turtles that looked like car tires with heads.

I then drove over to the Colt's Neck municipal ponds to see what was going on after the dredging from a couple years ago. Water was very cloudy, and there were turtles everywhere. I did catch three dink bass out of the big pond, and I mean dinks; not much bigger than the 3" slug-go I caught them on. Saw several more cruising the shoreline as well. The future looks bright there, but it will be a couple of years before anything of any size can be caught.

Took a walk around the path at Franklin yesterday, did not fish among the madness. Saw a commorant take two 12" browns. Saw two swing and misses and surf rods with bells. Sent two 13 yo trying to catch bass to your hot spot of last week. Spinner baits they were using were at least 1/2oz so I doubt they caught much.
