Default Pre-Spawn? Spawning? Post-Spawn?

About 3 weeks ago, I saw many bass craters with male bass guarding and sometimes, female bass comes along and "dance" with each other. Last week, when we had cold front, I saw many bass on bed disappearing. Today, I saw many empty bass craters as well as a few male bass guarding fry and some are just guarding the crater.

Does this mean, some are in pre-spawn stage and some are in post-spawn?

Wouldn't surprise me. However a cold front can sometimes push them back off and will resume once the temps come back up again.

It's typical to have pre-spawn, spawn, and post-spawn occurring in bodies of water at the same time. Especially on larger bodies of water that don't warm up uniformly.
