Default Islamorada FL Report....

Mahi Mahi are Running...lol. Had 2 great offshore days down there on a hired boat out of Whale Harbor Marina. First Saturday we had 28 Schoolies and a mess of throwbacks as well. Trolled 'em up and the schools came in. Me and 2 other salts did most damage...3 others were confuzzled to say the least when the dolphin came into the wash behind the boat.

Second day offshore started slower and choppier...but got one to bite and it brought some more in. I put a 1oz White bucktail on my medium spinning gear, threw it out beyond the other baits and BLAMMO! The 22lber came screaming in like a blue bullet..he was lit up and hungry...Fight On! Was tricky in rough seas with the other guys trying to catch the schoolies. After a good fight with him, picked up on the troll again and got some more schoolies. Another stop had us casting directly at a fish and he hit hard again....WHOO HOO!!! Went 2 for 2 on 20+lb dolphin....total of 18 fish on the day there with a few shorts thrown back as well.

Attached are pics of me and my lovely daughter posing....she'll be out there on the gulf stream one day catching these as well!

It absolutely was a great time. Rough seas as the wind was blowing for a few days but not horrible by any means. I think the best was when I had my daughter fishing near a bridge abutment off of US1 and shes hauling in double headers of baby grunts and snappers! Had a blast with that!
