Default Back Bay/Pier fishing rod

I'am working on putting together a back bay & pier & boat spinning rod/reel. I'am starting with a Penn Battle2 reel and my question to the group is what type of rod would be a good rod to match with this reel I have not spooled it yet with line so i'am trying to spend under $200 dollars i'am not particular about my brand mostly the specs of the rod MH, H, lure weight, line size etc. I know its a broad spread I guess an everything rod any suggestions would be awesome thanks Mark

I'd say stick with a M or L rated in the range of 10-20 or 20- 25 pounds and 7'6 at a minimum, longer if you plan to cast plugs and need the distance or want to use it on the beach most of the time. I'd string it with 20 pound braid which will be better for better casting distance.

Is you're budget $200 for just the rod?

Any rod I ever purchased I always took the pound test I was planning on using and put it through the guides. Have someone hold the line and put a strain on the rod. See the bend to ensure a smooth bend through out the blank. No sharp bends from guide to guide. Bring some sinkers the weight you will be using to check how the rod holds what you might be using..... Take that from an OLD salt.....................

For that price point
- Jigging World Hybrid Nano M
- Star Plasma II
- Tsunami Forged inshore
- Fenwick Elite inshore

If I were you I would head to a local tackle store and get them in my hands since you're preference might come down to what balances best with your reel...
