Tsunami Trophy vs Airwave
Looking to upgrade my surf rod and looking at these two. I will mostly be fishing jetties and the surf with it, having a tough time deciding what length to get. Currently i have an 8ft Penn Pursuit MH which does the job, but i used my girlfriends father's tsunami the other weekend and loved how it felt. I'd like to use it for blues, stripers, etc slinging mostly metals, plugs and BTs. Does anyone have a preference for one over the other? Any information would be appreciated.

Re: Tsunami Trophy vs Airwave
You can't go wrong with either choice. If you are looking to throw larger poppers, the longer rod would be better. Depending on what you throw frequently will help you decide.

Re: Tsunami Trophy vs Airwave
Go for the airwave unless you are throwing heavier plugs etc, then go for the trophy. Just my 2 cents.

Re: Tsunami Trophy vs Airwave
I use an 11' Airwave and it is great. I throw all types of plugs and up to 3oz metal. I use it in the surf and never had any issues. Blues, stripers, sand sharks, rays. It will stand up to the abuse of constant use..Good luck, Rammie

Re: Tsunami Trophy vs Airwave
Thanks all! Had a gift card so just ordered a 10ft MH Airwave. Very excited to try it out! I have a 6000 size reel, think that’ll be too big?

Re: Tsunami Trophy vs Airwave
Tested out the Airwave last night, caught 15 snappers. The 6000 reel was a bit heavy but didn't feel too big. I'll probably get a lighter 5000 size reel for this rod in the future and put the 6000 back on my old rod. The 10ft airwave was awesome and really allowed me to sling my metals and plugs the distance i was looking for. Was able to reach some blitzes i wouldn't have been able to with my old 8ft. Thanks for the input fellas!
