Default Ocean Explorer Blackfish

Saturday we had a very nice day condition wise,,but the fish were just not chewing..Caught a handful of keeper blackfish and some shorts but overall it was very slow....
Sunday we ventured further offshore and found much better life...The gizzies were all over the baits as they hit bottom and again we had a handful of keepers,,some shorts but still not that good...good action just nothing to write home about...The tough part of the day was the ocean..It was very nasty...Hard southerly with a big swell on underneath it....tough day
Yesterday(Monday) we headed out and I tried fairly shallow for this time of year about 80 feet,,and found really good life with fish coming up over the rail as soon as we stopped..We actually caught fish all day,,it was good but the size was not there..Ended up with maybe 10 keepers but loads of short blackfish..It was good,,Big boys just didn't want to chew..,,We are also seeing on most days some Codfish starting to show up in the mix as well,,,we are tied to the dock until probably the end of this week,,,maybe by Friday but we shall see. Some nasty weather moving in....Will keep you posted...
You can always call or text me to see if we are sailing..848-565-0519

Kind of figured that was the case.. Not much else out there that would attack bait rapidly at this time of year, except doggies...

I have another name to add to the list ..

Many years ago on the old 40 ft Skipper w/ Capt Don at the helm, many of the regulars, mates and even capt don himself would refer to the masses of bergals as "gars".. As in- "Those damn gars are fierce down there today".... and yes, I like to eat them better than tog as well... bob
