Default Mixed Bag Past Two Weekends (Trout, Bass, Stripers)

I did two quick morning trips the past two Saturdays. The fishing remained good with s mixed bag of species. I ended up with a bunch of nice wild browns to just over 20 inches, a big wild rainbow trout, a bunch of smallmouth and a couple of striped bass as well.

Nice clean looking fish Justin, just missing a greencarp and a catfish...

How can you tell the rainbow is wild? Full finns? I’ve caught some really beautiful looking rainbows this year that had perfect finns and thought they were way to pretty to come from a hatchery.

I really don't think you can ever tell 100% but if it has full fins and silvery vibrant color and it's in water that can support hold over it could be wild or a few years held over from a stocking.

All the fish above with the exception of the rainbow are wild. The rainbow is a nice holdover. I suspect the stream in question is tannic or turbid hence the silvery hue. Wild rainbows are rare in NJ, the limiting factor is stream PH isn't favorable for them in NJ. Still a nice fish.
